PRIORITY ASSIGNMENT
Section 5: Open Spaces Guidelines Based on Docent Availability
Assignment of docents, whether for docent-led tours or to a fixed location, depends upon the number of docents working each day and the flow rate of visitors. The following guide is intended for the Docent of the Watch and describes the scenarios ranging from 1 to 8 docents. The decision on which spaces are open and station assignments is the responsibility of the Docent of the Watch. Assignments may rotate throughout the day for training, relief, lunch break, and variety.
NOTE: Island Up ladders will both be port or starboard, depending on the weather. Admiral’s ladder will be down only.

The Island is the ship's major exhibit and should be kept open whenever possible. The Bridge is the major exhibit in the Island and should be kept open as much as possible. If you feel the crunch, close Pri-Fly and cover the rest of your obligations. DON'T BE AFRAID TO NOT OPEN THE ISLAND! Just tell the folks in the ticket office when you think you will be able to open a space and they will inform our guests when they purchase their tickets. It is better to not open an exhibit than to have to close it. We must meet our contractual tour responsibilities, so ALWAYS weigh that requirement in your planning. Rudy is aboard on most days to help if you need assistance.
